Depression treatment starts with understanding the cause
Low mood can occur with major depression, bipolar disorder, grief, trauma, anxiety, substance use, medication effects, hormonal changes, sleep disorders, and medical conditions.
- Review symptoms, safety, history, health, and current medications
- Screen for prior mania or hypomania before antidepressant decisions
- Discuss psychotherapy and behavioral supports
- Review medication benefits, risks, alternatives, and monitoring
- Create a follow-up and safety plan based on clinical need
- Medication management when clinically appropriate; no antidepressant is automatic

Can telehealth help with depression?
Many adults can receive evaluation and ongoing medication management through secure video. Emergency, severe, medically complex, or high-risk situations may require in-person or higher-level care.
Will I automatically receive an antidepressant?
No. Medication decisions depend on the diagnosis, health history, prior responses, possible bipolar symptoms, risks, preferences, and clinical judgment.
What if I am having suicidal thoughts?
If you may act on thoughts of suicide, cannot stay safe, or have an emergency, call or text 988, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not wait for an outpatient message response.
Does Rosemarie offer adult depression appointments?
Rosemarie accepts adults with self-pay or select insurance plans through Headway. She also accepts select insurance plans through Headway; verify your benefits before booking.
Who provides depression care?
